Butterfly Basics

Here in North Georgia we’ve had an interesting winter. Except for one bitter cold week (much colder than usual) with snow and ice, the average daily temperatures have been at the higher end of the 60s (warmer than normal). The warm weather is a tease…. Can spring be far away? Will the daffodils at Gibbs Gardens begin blooming in late February and early March? Those random thoughts were the motivation for this card with vibrant green and yellow and the design was inspired by the Fusion Photo Challenge.

Fusion "Australia Day"

Garden Green and Daffodil Delight Stampin' Up! colors are featured on this card front with a yellow detailed butterfly, ferns, and the sentiment, "Sending Wishes Your Way."

Image of the elements used to construct the final card: Garden Green and Daffodil Delight card stock, butterfly and sentiments, 1) "Sending Wishes Your Way" and 2) There is Nothing in the Caterpillar that tells you it is going to be a butterfly."
Card Elements

A bold, intentionally circular (opposed to a lighter touch and more blended background) sponging technique was applied to a piece of Whisper White card stock panel measuring 5″ x 3-3/4″. When the ink was very dry, the fern stamp from the Butterfly Basics stamp set was applied to the card as was the sentiment, “Sending Wishes Your Way,” found in the same stamp set.

A butterfly was die cut from Daffodil Yellow card stock using the Butterflies Thinlits Dies. It was adhered to the panel using glue dots. A rhinestone was added, for a little bling.

A small butterfly and the sentiment were added to the interior Whisper White message panel for the interior of the card.

  1. So pretty Linda! Love those spring colors! I am seeing the trees starting to get buds around Atlanta…keep wondering if they’ll survive if we actually do get winter at some point! 🙂
