Butterfly Basics II

Image of final card sporting the colors Soft Sky, Sweet Sugarplum, and Very Vanilla. The card also contains a die cut of a color butterfly.

The colors in this card were inspired by Fab Friday #104

Interior of the card: Very Vanilla card stock with flowers and sentiment ("Sending Wishes Your Way") stamped in Sweet Sugarplum ink.

The Very Vanilla card base was scored to produce a “Z” fold (measurements are provided at the end of this blog post). I stamped the interior of the card with the sentiment and flower from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in Sweet Sugarplum.

Also stamp a partial flower image on the front of the Very Vanilla envelope.

Image of watercolor paper swashed in strips of Sweet Sugarplum and Soft Sky ink with the butterfly framelit.  An aqua painter  was used to create washed stripes of Sweet Sugarplum and Soft Sky on a panel of watercolor paper. When the watercolor paper was dry, a delicate butterfly was die cut from the sheet.
Image of die cut and Die Brush set to clean up the die cut butterfly.  The Die Bush and accompanying foam pad make it very easy to remove the cut shads from the die.
Elements of the card including envelope stamped in Sweet Sugarplum, Falling in Love Designer Series Paper, butterfly die cut from watercolor swatch with Soft Sky and Sweet Sugarplum ink.  Construct the card by adhering the front panel (Sky Blue card stock, plus DSP, and ribbon) to the card front (left quarter of the “Z” fold). Use Fast Fuse and Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach all of the elements of the card.

  1. What a gorgeous butterfly, and what a fabulous tutorial on how to create it! I also love your little mesh detail behind it – perfect to set off those beautiful wings! Thanks so much for joining us at Fab Friday!
